Dock Watch

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026. This policy explains what Dock Watch collects, why, and the choices you have.

The short version. Dock Watch collects only what it needs to run your account, bill your subscription, and send the lake alerts you ask for. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising. Payments and sign-in are handled by established providers (Stripe and Clerk) so we never see or store your full card number or password. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.

1. Who we are

This policy applies to the Dock Watch website and dashboard at thedockwatch.com (the “Service”), operated by the owner of Dock Watch (“Dock Watch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact support@thedockwatch.com.

2. Information we collect

CategoryWhat it includesWhy
Account information Your email address and name, and authentication details, collected when you create an account or sign in. To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
Billing information Your subscription and trial status, and a payment token. Card numbers are entered directly with our payment processor; we do not receive or store them. To run your free trial and subscription and prevent fraud.
Alert settings The email address and lake-level thresholds you enter when you set an alert. To send you the alerts you asked for and avoid sending duplicates.
Technical and usage data Standard server logs from our host — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — and cookies or similar storage used for sign-in and your saved preferences. To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (such as health, precise geolocation, or government IDs), and we ask that you not send them to us.

3. How we use your information

We rely on these bases where applicable: performing our contract with you (running your account and subscription), your consent (the alerts you opt into), our legitimate interests (security and improving the Service), and compliance with law.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and remember your in-app preferences (for example, the tab you last viewed and a local count used to limit how many alerts can be saved per day). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, but sign-in will not work without the necessary ones.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only with service providers that help us run Dock Watch, and only as needed for them to perform their function:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Dock Watch, our users, or the public. If the Service is ever transferred to another owner, account data may transfer with it under this policy.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as needed afterward to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations and to resolve disputes. Alert settings are kept while the alert is active and for a short period afterward to avoid duplicate sends. Server logs are retained for a limited period by our host. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

7. Your choices and rights

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers for authentication, payments, and hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your account credentials confidential.

9. Children

Dock Watch is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Dock Watch is operated from the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand your information will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes take effect when posted here, and we will update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
